Girl You Will Survive the Fire began as a mixed media botanical gelli print with textile and collage. The stylised pincushion proteas — shaped by fire and formed in colour and texture — carry a quiet resilience that many souls recognise without explanation.

When I made the original work, I hesitated over the words more than the image. I wondered whether “girl” would land well, whether people would see what I saw — that proteas depend on fire to reseed, to begin again. But the responses were immediate and deeply human: a mother buying a card for her daughter writing exams; a woman placing several orders without explanation; another saying, “Everyone needs to be told this.”

This is an open-edition print, designed to capture that spirit — not as a statement, but as a companion for reflection. Perfect for living spaces, study nooks, bedrooms or wherever a gentle reminder of strength and renewal feels welcome.
